Concept
Space-Time Tuner presents a moving landscape of silent, visible sound-waves held within an antique radio. The artwork's various layers of reflection offer an intriguing optical puzzle and an invitation to explore multi-dimensional compositions. The time dimension is also included in the rhythmic sense of the animated composition, as well as in the evocation of traveling back to a time when the voice of the radio was at the centre of the living room.
On one hand, the piece is a tribute to the obsolete technology it uses; on the other, it draws attention to the contrast between old and new media.
The reflecting scenography held within the radio contains an homage to HSM Coxeter (1907 - 2003), one of the most important geometers of the twentieth century; the triangular shapes are composed of octahedral kaleidoscopes, as defined by Coxeter.
