Electro Cardio Caster

Electro Cardio Caster is a hybrid installation that questions the social architecture of mechanized time.

Using the visitor’s heartbeat as its starting point, it generates abstract visualizations and a generative sound composition transmitted via FM radio, transforming the heartbeat into perceptual matter and an electromagnetic field.

The project explores the relationship between biological time and mechanical time, exposing how technologies of temporal parametrization have subordinated life to artificial rhythms.

By converting the pulse into electromagnetic waves, it proposes a counter-narrative: the body as a producer of sensitive temporalities, where time ceases to be a mechanism of control and becomes a possibility for insubordination.

The piece integrates a heart sensor that activates the system, a viewer that translates the pulsations into animated graphics, and an audiovisual composition transmitted by FM and projected in the room. A multimodal environment that comes to life through each participant’s internal rhythm.

The installation critically examines how synchronization devices—from mechanical clocks to microcontrollers—have configured a temporal order based on productivity, linearity, and discipline. Within this framework, experience becomes data, the body becomes performance, and the heartbeat becomes a figure.

ECC introduces a critical gesture: reinserting biological time into the augmented technosocial environment.

The human heartbeat—singular, variable, unpredictable—erupts into temporal structures created through gears or oscillators, re-embodying the living within a numerical context, where the natural becomes subversive.
